After becoming an academy, Ashwood Spencer has set about establishing a brand new governing body for the school.
The governing body will be known as the ‘Local Governing Body’ (LGB) and will work closely with the Trust Board of Directors. More information on the Spencer Academies Trust Board of Directors is available here.
Known also as Trustees, Directors hold ultimate legal authority for governance across the Spencer family of schools. Each school has a ‘link’ Director, who has a close relationship with the school and LGB.
Local Governing Bodies are made up of parent, staff and community governors, with each LGB to have at least two of each type of governor. LGBs are responsible for ensuring that the management of the school places the interests of children and parents first, and maintaining strong links between the school and the local community. By doing so, they help to shape the future of our schools.
Meetings take place approximately once per half term, at a convenient time.
Could you be a governor and help Ashwood on our improvement journey?
Applications to join Ashwood as either a parent or community governor are now open.
